Review
To be honest, when I first watched Yu Yu Hakusho for the first time, I was not expecting much of the show because the graphics seemed sucky and everything else about it made it seem like a show not worth watching. However, when I was eating and was flipping through channels, I let it stay on Cartoon Network and I watched one full episode of it...it was amazing! I personally enjoyed the first episodes because it caught my attention because they were ordinary teenagers having bully problems at school and as it introduced demons and such, it was like whoa.

There is a lot of irony is the beginning, especially with Kurama. Yomi used to be Kurama's sidekick but as a result of his blindness and arrogance, Kurama hired a demon to blind him for good. However, now times changed and Yomi is one of the three kings. Yomi forces Kurama to join and be his second in command. It is ironic that overtime, the sidekick becomes in command and vice versa. I personally enjoy irony and this was ironic indeed. What was also ironic was that the beast that blinded Yomi is not instead of being the horrifying monster as before, he is at the mercy of Yomi and gets killed by Yomi.

What was unusual and ironic too was how Yusuke, Hiei, and Kurama were on the same side and yet now. They are reaching high positions in Demon world but on three opposing sides! The irony that this caused will provide a more of a curious approach to the viewers and as they watch, they will definitely want to see the next DVD to see how the three friends will result when they are on three conflicting sides.

However, there is a lot of expected stuff in this such as the fact that Kurama and Yusuke both exceeded the normal range of ability that the other characters in the story expect of them. Yomi's servant underestimated Kurama greatly so he challenged him and as a result, he paid the ultimate price. We expect of the main characters to be as amazing as well...as we expect them to be. We'd expect Yusuke, Hiei, and Kurama to achieve to the power that they have and they did.

What was also interesting was the history of Yusuke's ancestor, Raizen. Raizen was a demon who ate human flesh but one night, he encountered a really beautiful woman who helped him and dared him to eat her flesh because if he does, the poison in her would kill her. As a result, instead of eating her, Raizen had sex with the woman. Raizen didn't feel like he belonged with her because he is a killer and she is a person that heals so he left off and sworn not to eat another human again until he saw his love again. And he never did because she died after giving birth. It is interesting that Yusuke is the decendent of such a strange couple.

The music and video was alright but the plot and storyline makes up for everything! What filled this DVD with richness was the irony that it provided. The irony filled the viewers mind with a sense of "wow" because the viewers will not know what to expect and what he or she does expect may possibily be wrong.

Comments:
It was funny how Kaizen was going to eat the woman but instead they made love. But I thought that was kind of disturbing for young viewers since it was like half nude so I'd suggest don't let you're little brothers and sisters watch.
