In Fullmetal Alchemist the Elric brothers are depicted in a world that closely resembles early 20th Century Europe. howevver, alchemy is a highly developed science, albeit one still based on the principle of equivalent exchange. The varous characters in Fullmetal Alchemist practice several diffferent types of alchemy and it has also been used to give birth to both grotesque living creatures known as chimeras, and animated armor called Automail.

And it appears they may have found it-in a strangely prosperous desert village.
Body of the Sanction
What is the meaning of a miracle? or compassion? Is it rihgt to leae a girl and her village in blissful ignorance or take away all their comforts for thes sake of telling the truth? FUNimation intended for this imported anime from Japanese to be the best show in Adult Swim. This show isn't exactly the "best" show in Adult Swim but it is one of the top shows rivaling with Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakushow, and Cowboy Bebop. FullMetal Alchemist was released not too long ago by FUNimation and it's been soaring as one of the most wanted animes around. The combination of a fictional story with scientific allusions to alchemy, chemistry and science, it gives readers a sense of realism in the story--as if the issues that they come about dealing with alchemy could exist. For those who are not familiar with alchemy, it is the branch of science that deals with transfering one element into another, such as transforming metal into gold. However, the technology required to do that is so much more expensive than the product of gold itself, it is uncommon for you to hear about people transforming metal into gold.
The beginning was a bit disturbing when they showed Edward Elric's arm and leg missing because it had a lot of blood and was a bit gory. It was also very emotional when Ed and Al's mother passed away since the boys loved her so much. However, it was a bit odd that they would show the beginning in a flashback from a book rather than just go on with the story chronologically, since a lot of fans do not like to watch backwards but watch the story forward. Perhaps they made the first episode a good one compared to the third one, which is with the flashback, was because they wanted to attract people's attention. Honestly, just by watching the first episode on TV, it got me hooked onto wanting to see more of it. It was also visually disturbing when Cornello's arm was transformed into a disturbing piece of flesh and metal after the stone died.
This story has a variety of characters that relate so it ties up the whole story better. Basically the protagonists are Al and Ed. The antagonist according to this DVDwould be Cornello, Lust, Gluttony, and Majhal. Other characters are Rose, Pinako Rockbell (Winry's grandma), Winry Rockbell (the neighbor's little girl), Trisha Elric (Al and Ed's mother who died), Karin, Lebi, Clause and her father. The great thing about this DVD in particular is that it comes with a booklet that explains the characters, the plot, and it also gives a little essay about how Seiji Mizushima, the director, found Fullmetal Alchemist. The DVD is a must-own DVD with a lot of special surprises, a nicely made booklet, and a really well designed DVD case.

The 1st and 2nd episodes were the best for me since it was cool how Father Cornello decieved all those people and was praised by them as a god's prophet when in truth he was nothing more than a power hungry alchemist.
